Before we start our farm life, we are going to spend three weeks on vacation in Mexico. Some very good friends of ours our getting married in Manzanillo next week. We are making an adventure of it and driving down from Oakland. We plan on spending about 6 days driving down and then hang out for a week in Manzanillo. We will then head to Guadalajara then back up the coast, back into the US. I hope to have LOTS of pictures to share with everyone once we get back.
Brian and I have left the 9-5 world and have started our journey to become farmers. We started our journey by working on a small, organic farm in Petaluma, CA from April to December, 2009. Now we are managing a 3-acre farm in Woodside, CA for a restaurant group. We hope to someday have our own farm in Oregon. This blog is meant to be a public record of our journey.

- Why are we doing this? The average age of the farmer in the US is 55 and only 1% of people in the U.S. claim farming as their occupation. Brian and I want to start a small, organic farm. We plan to grow vegetables and some fruit at our farm. Our main motivation is growing food locally and in an sustainable manner. We want to show people that eating fresh, local, organic, in season produce is not only better for their body and the environment, but also tastes much better.
